Founder

I started out in 1970 as a commuter on a Bultaco Mercurio 200. Great way to learn about 2 stroke technology while arriving late to work. My next adventure was off-road on my Bultaco PurSang 250. So quiet at idle you could hear a piano drop. After I attempted flight by riding off a cliff on the PurSang, I mellowed out with a list of soul-sucking Japanese appliances (CL350, XL250, etc.) until I acquired a beat down BMW R 50/2. It was more dependable than a Labrador Retriever and a lot smoother than riding California 101 on my Hodaka Combat Wombat 125 on full knobby rubber.

Today, I am a fan of BMW oil heads for solo Iron Butt cross-country runs and the earlier Slash 2’s for AMCA events. Like stray kittens, a 1928 JD cut down built in the early fifties recently followed me home. I am doing my best to honor its builder and the post war period by preserving the vibe while preparing it mechanically for the next custodian.

Having been born into a motorcycling family, I am a life long motorcyclist and have been motorcycling in various forms for 51 years. In 1968, my motorcycling journey began on a Honda Z-50 at the age of six. Although my father was a Honda and Yamaha dealer, he was a BSA fan, so I grew up appreciating fine British motorcycles. By 1976, at the age of fourteen, I began collecting motorcycles. Working all summer at minimum wage, I earned $1,200; just enough to purchase my first classic British motorcycle, a Velocette Venom Clubman. The Velo is still in my possession and is pounding away to this day. Since my initial motorcycle purchase, my passion for old motorcycles remains strong and my collection continues to grow.
